Knip Bay Beach One of the reasons you go to the Caribbean is to go to the beaches. This is Knip Bay Beach, and is probably one of the most delightful of the many, many beaches (there are 38) on the island. You won't find this color of water in Hawaii, or Australia, nor along the coast of Florida or the Red Sea. The Southern Caribbean water has a color all its own. This is about the biggest wave you'll see on Knip Bay, which makes it perfect for kids. And notice how crowded the beach is... Isn't this awesome?

Sunset at Knip Bay Okay, so we got carried away and spent the rest of the day at Knip Bay. Can you blame us? While we soaked up the sun (in a healthy way), we also got in some great snorkeling staying all the way left against a ledge of rock. There were several large schools of fish hugging the shore for protection, which made a fabulous display. You can see squid here on occasion, and starfish as well. What a perfect ending to another wonderful day on Curacao.

There are several excellent dive operations on Curacao. If you are interested, locals tell us the best dives are shore dives. While there are many mid-sized beaches on Curacao, most of the coastline is rocky. This means less sediment in surrounding waters which makes for unforgettable diving.
